Each carnation represents one of the Council's 140 deceased knights.
For this event, Grand Knight Bob Honzik invited the fifty Council 10208 knight widows living in the Village and received 32 positive responses.   The evening began in the narthex with each widow receiving a corsage and having her picture taken with a sir knight from the Honor Guard, who escorted her into the nave.  The 5:00pm mass was concelebrated by Father Bill Elser, former pastor Monsignor Bernard Malone, and Father Michael Hinken, son of widow Joan Hinken Ashley. They were assisted by Deacon Larry Lipsmeyer.

In addition to the guests, there were 131 knights and spouses in attendance for the mass and banquet.  Some knights and spouses attended the mass only to pray for their brother knights.  Special guests included: State Deputy Adrian Dominguez and his wife, Socorro; State Treasurer Roy Anderle and his wife, Cathy; and, deceased knight Emile Plaisance’s daughters from Louisiana, Beth Domingue and Jeanine Theriot.

Eight knights died since the 2013 memorial mass: Gerald Altoff, Kenneth Buch, Ed (Bill) Gerstner, J. Paul Newall, James Niemczyk, Edward Pilarski, Emile Plaisance, and Roger Witcraft   A vase with 132 flowers was placed at the base of the steps to the altar, and a flower for each of the eight knights was added to the bouquet by an Honor Guard member as names of the deceased were announced by Father Elser.

The following widows had reservations, and the names of their husbands were read by Grand Knight Bob Honzik and Faithful Navigator Dave Johnston:  Joan (Hinken) Ashley, Ellie Barker, Elizabeth Barry, Mary Pat Billings, Bennie Buch, Marge (Durfee) Capella, Jeanne Christensen, Ruth Cirzan, Anne Cosgrove, Jean Dobes, Jackie Fayman, Arlene Giedt, Patricia Khuen, Elizabeth Kent, Marcie Margel, Marion McConnell, Margie McGrail, Kathleen Merten, Rosemary Miller, Elsa Naeger, Evelyn Newall, Judie Pearson, Joanne Podraza, Ida (Pearman) Porterfield, Lucille Rodden, Carolyn Squire, Millie Steveken, Pat Stoiber, Donna Uhen, Connie (Cody) Wilson, Mary Ann Witcraft, and Ruth (Roeder) Wolfer.
